Scantlings and massif boards for Joinery

AZI srl Romania is a specialized producer of scantlings from spruce for the fabrication of joinery assemblies and glued laminated timber for the fabrication of next products:
- Scantlings for windows, doors, framing and architecture used at the exteriors;
- Scantlings for doors and framing specific to wood joinery used at interiors;

AZI srl Romania can also offer glued laminated timber from other species .

AZI srl Romania manufacture scantlings and massif boards for joinery assemblies in the area with the best timber offer, on a special technological flow create for this destination that includes equipment and facilities that meet the latest technical and environmental fabrication standards and also includes a qualified staff following the millennial tradition in wood processing. AZI srl Romania relies on these essential characteristics and on a set of rules, norms and standards that regulate the scantlings domain or other types of wooden ambient architectures where the aesthetics and finish request are important.

AZI srl Romania use spruce - Picea Abies, the famous Romanian "white wood".
Spruce is the first wood specie recommended by IFT Rosenheim, the most prestigious certification Institute from Europe for windows and doors. About the spruce for Neamt area we can tell, based to certain proves, that has an exceptional quality resulting from natural regeneration, and not artificial regeneration - as most of the European forests. Growing at optimum altitudes, in the best soil and in the appropriate environmental conditions contributed to the obtaining of valuable forests. The great value of Romanian forests is proved by the fact that a lot of forest surfaces are FSC certified.

Spruce is the first wood specie recommended by IFT Rosenheim, the most prestigious certification Institute from Europe for windows and doors. Using spruce to manufacture joinery assemblies has an old tradition which can be confirmed by any person with relevant experience on this domain.
Spruce has undeniable advantages scientific proved. These are:

  • constant and low swelling – shrinkage;
  • low density in relation to the physical and mechanical properties of great resistance;
  • straight grain and constant annual growth;
  • refined annual rings and uniform white colour, who have brought fame to "white-wood" on the foreign market;
  • pronounced silky aspect that offers the obtaining of superior finishes with a very nice visual and psycho-sensorial effect.

AZI srl Romania use adhesive from D4 durability class, special destinated for manufacture wooden joinery according to standard EN 204:2002. Above this norm, AZI srl Romania can prove that adhesive allows the obtaining of a tensile adhesive strength at high temperature >7.0 N / mm ², according to standard EN 14257:2006. This adhesive is certified by institutes notified in Nando for utilization to fabrication of joinery assemblies.

For orders and special destinations AZI srl Romania use polyurethane adhesive which fit into standard EN 301 and 302 from 2006. This adhesive is certified for structural utilization usde in construction by Otto-Graf Institute (FMPA) from Germany and Norway Norsktreteknik Institute from Norway, by testing according to European Standard EN 14080:2013, and German standard DIN 1052:2008. The polyurethane adhesive used by AZI srl is subjected to strength tests on short, medium and long term in different and cyclic environmental conditions obtaining strong and durable joints throughout the design lifetime. The adhesive does not contain formaldehyde, which is a very dangerous and harmful substance. The existence of formaldehyde in closed spaces-bedrooms, poorly ventilated rooms-may be considered extremely toxic and dangerous.

Adhesive application, regardless of type, its quality and products destination, is made with machinery and equipment especially designed for this purpose, ruled, uniform and in the recommended quantity in a controlled microclimate.

Depending on the joinery assemblies destinations, final moisture is of 12 ± 2% for outside windows and doors and 8-10% for inside utilization.
AZI srl Romania can also offer glued laminated timber from other species .

At the client's request, we can execute glued laminated timber with different lamellas settlement, from different species or combinations of species for different uses and destinations.
Depending on the destination of scantlings and massif boards which are in the structure of joinery assemblies, request of clients and some rules, we show below details about their structure and dimensions:

Scantlings for windows and doors
According to the exterior lamellas type, the scantlings for interior windows and doors are:

  • scantlings FJ – with outside lamellas "d" finger jointed;
  • solid scantlings – the outside layers are solid;
The structure of solid scantlings is:
profile lamelare L = Length: 6100 mm;
B = Width: 70-140 mm;
D = Thickness: 72/84/96/120 mm;
d = lamellas can have length of 6100 mm, width of 70-140, finger jointed.

The structure of finger joint scantlings is:

profile lamelare L = Length: 6100 mm;
B = Width: 70-140 mm;
D = Thickness: 48 mm;
d = lamellas can have length of 6100 mm, width of 70-140 mm, finger jointed
profile lamelare L = Length 600-2500 mm;
B = Width 87 mm;
D = Thickness 72-96-120 mm;
d = lamellas can have length of 600- 2500 mm, width of 87 mm. The cover layers are solid, middle layer is finger joint
We can also manufacture others structures and dimensions of scantlings.
Massif boards for joinery, framings, furniture and other interior or exterior decorations: By the type of lamellas which compose the structure, boards for joinery, framings, furniture and other interior or exterior decorations are:
  • finger joint boards – with finger joint elements;
  • solid boards – without finger joint elements;
The structure of board is: Finger jointed massif board
profile lamelare L = Length: 6100 mm;
B = Width: 200-600 mm;
D = Thickness: 19/24/28/32/42/48/56 mm;
d = lamellas can have length of 6100 mm, width of 30-80 mm, finger jointed

Solid massif boards:

profile lamelare L = Length: 600-3000 mm;
B = Width: 200-600 mm;
D = Thickness: 19/24/28/32/42/48/56 mm;
d = lamellas can have length of 600-3000 mm, width of 30-80 mm, solid

The final humidity of massif boards is 12±2% or 8±2% depending on the final utilization.
We can manufacture others dimensions of boards.
